The air pollution belongs among one of the most discussed topics in ecology. The contribution of the automotive emissions is increasing with the increasing demands on transport of goods and people. This phenomenon is more important in the big cities, where the quality of air is decreased by denser traffic and industry. The car emissions are legislatively regulated, in Europe by EURO standards (EHK earlier), other system of legislative regulations is in the USA and Japan, the rest of the world uses one of these systems, or very similar (Plát, 2011). The EURO limits are continuously decreased. This work is focused on experimental study of the periodic oxygen oscillations influence on a catalyst performance. This was examined on two model catalyst, one was coated with Pt on Al 2 O 3 support, and second on Pd on Al 2 O 3 support. There was no other component in the active layer, such as cerium oxides, as the oxygen storage components. The difference of the performance improvement was evaluated.
