Similarity of human scent between siblings
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Human scent is considered as individual and can thus be used for forensic identification of persons. It is assumed that part of the human scent is genetically determined, which extends the informational content about the originator of the sample and simultaneously shifts the potential of scent analysis beyond purely forensic purposes. In this study we propose the idea that human scent includes information about blood relations, similar to DNA, specifically among siblings. Human scent was divided into six fractions based on their volatility levels, and these fractions were compared to determine if there are any similarities in scent among blood-related siblings. The fractions were compared using specially trained police canines, which are currently used to match the scent of a suspect with a scent sample taken from a crime scene.
