Characterization of electrochemically visualized latent fingerprints
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This work presents an electrochemical approach to the visualizationof fingerprints on brass cartridges with the aim of characterizing howvisualization using polyphenazine dyes affects latent fingerprints.Cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry have been used to depo-sit thin polymer films that visualize fingerprints. After visualizationthe individual layers (substrate/fingerprint/polymer film) and theirinterfaces were characterized profilometrically, spectroscopically(FTIR) and via SEM. With the help of SEM images, it was possible toassess the quality and morphology of the applied polymer layer.Profilometry showed the homogeneity and surface roughness of thedeposited layers. Based on the FTIR spectra, it can be concluded thatpolymer films of dyes are deposited on the surface of the substratesdue to the observed changes and band intensities belonging to themono- and polymer form of neutral red and toluidine blue, respec-tively. The electrochemical visualization method proved to be usable, gentle and relatively fast.
