When is art research? What does art know? How can the future (of institutions) anchor creative research? The conference will present a gathering of issues and experiences in artistic research as manifest in artworks and institutional practice. A key consideration in framing the conference programme was to invite a range of doctoral researchers, artists and academics to expose specific practice-based research examples and to discuss altogether the re-institutionalization of research through and as art. Over the course of 12 hours, we look forward to a colourful exchange of views and rehearsals of differing positions. The aim of the conference is to generate a dynamic framework of interaction, exchange, sustained and meaningful debate about creative practice and research. The event is intended to locate debates about future directions and programme innovation with reference to actual existing research practice within institutions both at home and abroad with a particular focus on art practice based research.
