The textbook summarises the most common ocular manifestations of systemic diseases, specifically vascular, endocrine, autoimmune, rheumatological, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, hematological, infectious, cutaneous, neurological, sexually trans mitted, and cancer. Successful treatment of these conditions requires early and usually long-term cooperation between the specialist and the ophthalmologist. The diseases can be manifested in all parts of the eye, depending on the overall way they spread throughout the body, whether through the blood, the lymphatic and nervous systems, or by affecting the avascular parts of the eye. Some diseases can already be demon strated by ophthalmological examination before the onset of general symptoms.
