There has been a long-time discussion about the relationship between the 7th and 9th arts, that is, film and comics. There are countless attempts to explore how film language influenced the language of comics (see basically anything in our bibliography), but also attempts to trace how comics might have influenced film. It is almost impossible to open a scholarly book about comics without running into words like “film,” “cinema,” “movie,” etc. But are those attempts justified enough? Is this discussion always relevant? Does it bring an advantage to either of these two arts? Do we correctly understand the differences and similarities between them? Let‘s look at those discussions a little deeper and focus on the work of Thierry Groensteen, a prominent comics scholar. • Popis výsledku v původním jazyce výsledku (min. 64 znaků): • There has been a long-time discussion about the relationship between the 7th and 9th arts, that is, film and comics.
