Does current level of knowledge enable a maker to build a violin with predictable performance? Do we find in the current science knowledge general amplications (ment scenarios if A then B), dealing with the basic understanding of a function of a violin?These are questions, this contribution deals with. The general answer to these questions is no, more detailed a very weak PROBABLY and a very strong NO, which shows, that theory of function of violin is not either a complete or a working one. The maker today is confronted almost with the same number and difficulty of problems as a maker of the golden ery of Italian violin making, and the current science gives him a very little help only. No matter how many articles, conference proceedings, the guidance,which can be given to a maker, is very limited. There are several reasons why, which will be discussed.
