The author provides basic information on John Amos Comenius and his relatives in the context of historical events of the time in which he lived, as well as on teachers or scholars of various faiths who influenced Comenius‘ views and beliefs when examining social conditions and education. For clarity and comprehensibility of the story, the book is divided into chapters according to the life events of the Teacher of Nations. In order not to burden the text with a number of facts, individual entries were created giving more detailed information about the most important persons who influenced Comenius, and on the places mentioned in the interpretation of Comenius‘ life and work. Furthermore, the author presents an explanation of selected concepts and historical events, as well as John Amos Comenius‘ genealogical table. In the book, readers will also find excerpts from Comenius‘ correspondence with the scholars of his time, with patrons and friends, as well as excerpts from Comenius‘ works, such as The Way of Light (Via lucis), Unum necessarium (The One Thing Needful), Analytical Didactics (not published separately), Didactica magna (Great Didactics), General Consultation on an Improvement of All Things Human (De rerum humanarum emendatione consultatio catholica). For readers, she selected and to those interested she presented Comenius‘ most important pedagogical, philosophical and theological works and annotated them.
