This dataset contains experimental data from a dissociative electron attachment (DEA) study of the CH3I molecule. The experiment was performed primarily using the dissociative electron attachment - velocity map imaging (DEA-VMI) experimental setup. In addition, the Cluster Beam (CLUB) apparatus was also employed to obtain high resolution mass spectra. Using the DEA-VMI setup, we measured the anionic mass spectra of CH3I produced due to DEA. Then we measured the ion-yield curves of I- and CH2- fragments. We also measured the high-resolution mass spectra at 8.0 eV incident electron beam energy using the CLUB setup. Velocity Map Images (VMI) of I- fragments were measured using the DEA-VMI setup at 0.01, 0.06, 0.1, and 8.0 eV incident electron energies. The angular distribution and kinetic energy distribution of the I- fragments were obtained from the VMI data. The data set also contained the simulated velocity map image of I- fragments based on measured kinetic energy distribution.n
