The collection of essays European Scholars Teaching African American Texts addresses specific challenges European scholars face when introducing African American culture in their own respective countries. It includes seven essays, both from seasoned andnewly emerging scholars from countries as diverse as the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Italy, Poland, Portugal, and Sweden, aiming to break down the notion of Europe as a monolithic political entity. The collection highlights the gains of re-examination of European cultural identity through the lens of African-American culture.
