Das zentrale Thema der Studie ist die Vorstellung der kulturellen Aktivitäten des Adelshauses Lichnowsky. Aufmerksamkeit wurde dem literarischen und musikalischen Schaffen der Lichnowskys sowie ihren kulturellen Kontakten geschenkt. Der Schwerpunkt des schöpferischen Engagements der Lichnowskys wird mit der kompositorischen Tätigkeit Karl Alois Lichnowskys, dem literarischen Schaffen Felix Lichnowskys und Eduard Lichnowskys und literarischen Ambitionen Mechtilde Lichnowskys verbunden, die zwischen dem Expressionismus und der Neuen Sachlichkeit oszillieren. Das Ziel des Artikels ist, auf die kulturelle Kontinuität in der Geschichte dieses Adelshauses hinzuweisen, die die Zeitspanne 1778-1958 einschließt. Dieses phänomenale kulturelle Engagement der Lichnowskys lässt sich vom europäischen literarischen und kulturellen Panorama nicht trennen und hat das kulturelle Bild Westschlesiens mitgeprägt.

The central theme of this study is the range of cultural activities undertaken by the Lichnowsky family. The author describes the family´s literary and musical contacts in addition to discussing artistic depictions of family members. Particular attentionis focused on the Lichowskys own literary and musical works, particularly those of the composer Karl Alois Lichnowsky, the poet Felix Lichnowsky, the dramatist Eduard Lichnowsky, and the literary works of Mechtilde Lichnowsky, which oscillated between Expressionism and the Neue Sachlichkeit. The aim of the study is to highlight the cultural continuity in the history of the family from 1778 to 1958. The Lichnowskys as a cultural phenomenon are inseparable from the wider European literary and cultural scene, and they helped to create the cultural image of this part of Silesia.
