El tema del presente trabajo se debe a las semejanzas observadas entre las obras del llamado realismo crítico o ?perspectivismo? de la literatura paraguaya de la segunda mitad del siglo XX y una influencia notable de Rafael Barrett en los escritores exiliados de la época de Stroessner. El compromiso social de Barrett y su falta de componendas hicieron de este escritor el personaje más característico de los principios de la literatura paraguaya moderna. Una visión crítica de la realidad social del Paraguay domina en la línea interpretativa de los autores desde Casaccia, Roa Bastos, Plá, Romero hasta los menos conocidos: Rivarola Matto, Ritter, Ferrer, Silva, Garcete, González Alsina, Campos Cervera algunos más. Estos son los autores más sobresalientes de la generación del 40 y 50, quienes -con Roa Bastos a la cabeza- forman una vanguardia que ocupa posiciones dentro del marco de la llamada ?novela de la tierra?, y del realismo social o incluso del realismo mágico social.

The present work focuses the subject stems from the observed ideological similarities among works originating in the so-called critical realism, or perspectivism, of the Paraguayan literature of the second half of the 20th century. Barrett?s social activism and his unwillingness to compromise made him the most characteristic figure of the beginnings of modern Paraguayan literature. A critical view of the social reality of Paraguay is the key point in the interpretation of the works of the authors, fromCasaccia, Roa Bastos, Plá, Romero to those lesser known, Rivarola Matto, Ritter, Ferrer, Silva, Garcete, González Alsina, Campos Cervera and a few others. They are the most eminent authors of the generation ?40 and ?50, who - with Roa Bastos at their head - are the avant-garde, placing itself both within the area of the novel of the earth?, as well as social realism, and even social magical realism.
