Die Entwicklung der sozialistischen Industrialisierung nach 1948 und ihre ökologischen Folgen in der Slowakei und Ungarn wiesen mehrere gemeinsame Charakteristika auf. Auch in weiteren Ländern des in Entstehung begriff enen sowjetischen Blocks in Mittel- und Südosteuropa hatten die sozialistische Industrialisierung und ihre Umweltfolgen ähnliche Merkmale, doch zwischen Ungarn und der Slowakei, die im Untersuchungszeitraum den wirtschaftlich weniger entwickelten östlichen Teil der Tschechoslowakei (Československá republika, ČSR) bildete, waren diese Parallelen besonders zahlreich.

The development of socialist industrialisation after 1948 and its environmental consequences in Slovakia and Hungary had several common characteristics. Socialist industrialisation and its environmental consequences also had similar characteristics in other countries of the emerging Soviet bloc in Central and South-Eastern Europe, but these parallels were particularly numerous between Hungary and Slovakia, which formed the economically less developed eastern part of Czechoslovakia (Československá republika, ČSR) during the period under study.
