Sorption properties of slags
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Blast-furnace slag (BFs) and steel making slag (SMs) were investigated as multifunction sorbents. The contribution is aimed at characterization of slags and their sorption properties. The characterization of slags were performed by XRF and IR spectroscopy. The sorption experiments with cations (Cu(II) and Zn(II)) and anions (CrO4 -2) were carried out by batch method in aqueous medium. The sorption experiments with BFs and SMs were carried out at optimal conditions which were determined by experiments with standards of slags. Maximum adsorbent amounts of Cu(II) is 0.23 mmol/g on the BFs and 0.38 mmol/g on the SMs, Zn(II) is 0.17 mmol/g on the BFs and 0.35 mmol/g on the SMs and of chromates for the BFs is 15 ?mol/g and for SMs is 89 ?mol/g. The mechanismof the metal cations removing is supposed to be an adsorption combined with precipitation indicated by a high pH after sorption experiments. Slags can be possibly used for remediation of wastewater containing metal ions.
