Parents as Partners in the Rehabilitation of Adolescents

This paper aims to contribute to the examination of the parents´ role in the process of resocialization of children at risk. It is informed by knowledge gained through research into resocialization partnerships of parents in the Czech Republic. It reflects on the parental role as part of the so called condition of consistence of shaping the impact of the social background of a child. The paper presents the following issues related to the current situation of parental partnerships: a) expectations of theparental partnership required by law, b) typology of mothers´ roles, c) profile of the family background of an adolescent describing the family's social status, the occurrence of social deviation and quality of parental behavior in the families of thoseadolescents who are subject to institutional care.
