Risk management in the production and distribution of drinking water

  • Popis výsledku v původním jazyce

In connection with the production and distribution of drinking water it is necessary to take into consideration the possibility of an emergency, which in this concept means undesirable effects of forces and phenomena endangering human health, property, goods, and, last but not least, also the environment. These are natural hazards and anthropogenic hazards or their combination. It is therefore necessary to eliminate at least partially these hazards and minimize their adverse effects. To eliminate hazards, a risk analysis can be used, where possible hazardous areas are identified and their frequency and impacts are analysed. Then actions are recommended on the basis of the results to prevent the occurrence of undesirable emergencies. However, carrying out a risk analysis is a demanding process, which is usually complicated by the condition of individual parts of the water supply system. The evaluation of possible hazards requires the creation of a model of the system which is as accurate as possible on the basis of data available. However, these data are usually incomplete, inaccurate, and often very hard to access. (C) SGEM2018 All Rights Reserved.
