Fluctuation of water pressure and its impact on water losses in water distribution network
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The paper deals with fluctuations in water pressure and its influence on water losses in the network, depending on the time and height of the building. Water losses, depleted infrastructure life, and rising energy costs are just some of the issues that affect grid pressure. Excessive pressure increases the risk of piping rupture and water leakage in the distribution network and increases the cost of energy that needs to be spent on pumping and producing additional drinking water. Reducing the water pressure in the distribution network means that fewer water will escape from cracks in the pipeline, which will result in a significant reduction in water losses due to leakage. Average water losses in network in the Czech Republic are approximately 18%, but the value of around 35% is not strange nowadays. Such losses then have a negative impact on the functionality of drinking water supply system, and it is therefore necessary to optimize the pressure in the water supply network. However, such optimization brings with it the need to analyze and then monitor the water mains. (C) SGEM2019.
