The purpose of this article is to introduce the readers to the basic bodies of the integrated rescue systemof the Czech Republic with a focus on their training. Then, the current state of the use of simulationtechnologies and virtual reality in the education and training of these units is described. The articlefurther focuses on the possibility of applying simulation technologies and virtual reality in jointpreparation for large-scale emergencies. The main output is the proposal of parameters for jointexercises for emergency responders and local government using simulation technologies and virtualreality. The design of the exercise is based on the experience from the emergency event "Tornado inSouth Moravia 2021" and takes into account the current technological capabilities of the basic bodies ofthe integrated rescue system of the Czech Republic and relevant educational institutions.
