The electrodeposited composite coatings with submicron - size particles

This paper is a study of possibilities of the electrodeposited coatings and evaluation its mechanical properties. The composite layers on a base of Ni with contents of SiO2, Al2O3, SiC, TiCN were electrodeposited. The composite coatings have been deposited in the bath containing 5, 10, 20 and 50 g of the powder in 1 dm3 of the electrolyte. For comparison the Ni layers were also obtained and investigated in the same manner. The layers were deposited in current density range of 0,5 to 7 A.dm-2. The microhardness of the layers under investigation were measured using the Vickers method at a load 0,1 kg. In order to determine wear resistance, the coatings were tested using the recent technique. This method is based on wear traces diameter measurement, the depth of the wear is calculated and taken as a parameter of wear.
