The paper deals with a working prototype of a system for the active vibration control of journal bearings to prevent rotor instability due to the oil film. The controllable journal bearing consists of movable bushing, the position of which is actuated with the use of piezoactuators. The first tests show that the active vibration control extends considerably the range of the operational RPM.
