DESIGN ISSUE OF GRINDING MACHINE SPINDLE USED FOR THE INTERIOR DIAMETERS OF LONG PIPES
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Pipes used for transport within the power or mining industry require high quality inner surfaces. If we use rolled thick-walled pipes, we must remove those iron scales from the inner surface, as well as remove other surface defects. It can be achieved e.g. by grinding. Such quality improvements of the inner surfaces extend the life of pipes, as they reduce the frequency of micro-crack occurrence on their walls. For the machining of the inner surfaces grinding machines for the internal pipe diameters are used. These grinders operate on the principle of axial grinding using inner rotary surfaces. This article deals with design issues concerning the spindle used to grind internal pipe diameters and primarily focuses on the optimization of the spindle size. Furthermore, this article offers a theoretical proposal for the spindle stroke in connection with its engagement, taking into consideration the internal diameter of the ground pipe and the outside diameter of the grinding wheels. There is also an example of spindle design for an internal diameter pipe grinder to process 13 m long pipes with internal diameters ranging from 273 to 660 mm and a minimum internal pipe diameter of 180 mm.
