The study deals with the evaluation of changes in landscape elements in the bottom land of the Oder River in the stretch from 5.5 km to 11 km, i.e. from the junction of the Oder and the Ostravice River as far as the municipality of Pudlov. The area of interest (given by aerial photographs Nos. 577, 579, 552) forms a part of the interested area in the framework of the extensive project dealing with changes in the landscape affected by past mining activity. The area under study has an extent of 12.9 km2.GIS computer programs were successfully used to evaluate changes in landscape elements in two time periods. A comparison between aerial photographs from the year 1946 and present topographic maps was performed.
