This article deals with the measurement and the setting up of the main mine ventilator in CSM mine ? South by means of laser measurement. CSM Mine ? South is located in the eastern basin of Karviná, in the mining district of Ostrava-Karviná near the village of Stonava. According to the Ordinance no. 22/1989 Coll., as subsequently amended, every mine has to have a separate ventilation system. Mechanical ventilation provides appropriate working conditions and prescribed composition of air in mines. Ventilation is carried out by the main mine ventilator (MMV) located at the main mine. For safety reasons, every mine has to be equipped with a backup MMV. Functionality of both the main and the backup mine ventilator has to be checked on a regular basis (generally by the manufacturer of the MMV).
