The paper deals with the assays of new flotation reagents, acquired via the pyrolysis of rubber, and of their efficiency when applied on slurries from the Mine Lazy. The efficiency of the reagents is also compared with that of the commercial flotation agent Montanol 551. A series of tests has resulted in the finding that the application of pyrolytic oils is practicable in the flotation of black coal and that considerable financial savings could be achieved this way. Better results were obtained having mixed the pyrolytic oils and Montanol 551 in various concentrations, and under such conditions the ash content in the flotation concentrate was reduced below 10%.
