    Inorganic coagulants, synthetic organic polymers and alternative natural coagulants are used to treat raw water into drinking water and in wastewater treatment. Alternative natural coagulants are now recognized as coagulants safe for human health, whereas coagulants based on aluminum salts are considered risky due to their neurotoxicity. For this experiment were selected alternative coagulants which had been used long before the inorganic coagulants were introduced. Moringa oleifera, Cicer arietinum, Trigonella foenum-graecum, and Dolichos lablab, which all have an origin in Asia and the Middle East, were chosen as alternative coagulants for the experiment. Seeds of these plants are used as coagulating agents for their organic origin, easy biodegradability, availability, and safety for human health. Trigonella foenum-graecum proved to be the best coagulant among the selected alternative coagulants. At a dose of 0.2 g/l of model dairy wastewater, turbidity decreased by 99 %, the value of COD dropped by 86 % and the conductivity was reduced by 26 %. During the clarifying process with model kaolin water, the dose of 0.04 g/l of Trigonella foenum-graecum seeds reduced the turbidity by 96 %, the dissolved solids dropped by 60 % and conductivity decreased by 28 %.
