Wastewater sludge is an inevitable waste in wastewater treatment. The issue of wastewater treatment plant sludge management is a highly topical issue in the EU and the Czech Republic. The sludge represents approximately 1-2% of the volume of treated water. However, it contain up to 50-80% of the original pollution. Sludge management costs represent up to 50% of the total operating costs of a wastewater treatment plant.
