Impact of the Pandemy on the Mining of Energy Raw Materials and Estimation of Future Developments Using Static Methods
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The Czech national energy mix is primarily focused on fossil energy sources, ie energy materials. The extraction of energy raw materials in the Czech Republic has undergone a significant decline in recent years. Important aspects of the decline in coal mining are rising domestic mining costs, cheaper imported energy raw materials and high foreign competition. In addition, the Covid-19 pandemic contributed to this fact. Based on statistical methods, it is possible to learn the future development of selected economic indicators associated with the extraction of energy raw materials in our country. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a number of uncertainties to the coal economy and certain negative effects in the form of increased coal mining costs, increased social costs, redundancies and thus increased unemployment in the affected regions. The Covid-19 pandemic has another negative impact on the hard coal economy in the form of accelerating the end of hard coal mining in the only hard coal district in the Czech Republic. If the Czech Republic does not want to be so dependent on the import of energy raw materials, it must transform its National Energy Mix into renewable energy sources.
