In the world economy the importance of raw material resources availability keeps growing as an significant aspect of industrial potential growth in a given territory. In the past period significant changes happened in the transfer and concentration of production branches at the marketing map of world manufacturing. Using the selected areas of drawn wire technology chain, this article documents some analytical outputs showing the developments trends of resource base imports and exports in the Czech Republic and the EU. The principles of technology operation decoupling oriented to the production finalization in the field of wire meshes for industrial filtration, springs made of steel wire and other fields such as wire brushes, steel wire ropes, etc. generate a number of new economic and technology changes that are the base of critical factors of the future competitiveness of the whole technology chain.
