The paper deals with the study of properties of supplied high-energy NdFeB permanent magnets (type N35), equipped with Zn coating to improve their corrosion resistance. Metallographic analysis, the determination of grain size, phase identification usingSEM with EDX micro-analyser, measurements of magnetic characteristics and corrosion tests were conducted. Basic matrix phase Nd2Fe14B was identified in the structure of the sample, as well as Nd-rich phase, and structure showed considerable porosity. Furthermore, an oxidic phase Nd(R)0x and Nd(R)xOyFez were found on the grain boundaries and at the point of intersection of three grains. Grain size distribution of the matrix was determined using the software Analysis and it ranged between 10 to 25 m. Themeasured magnetic characteristics did not entirely correspond to the values indicated by the manufacturer, in particular magnetic product (BH max, which was approx. by 20% lower.
