In the work theoretical and experimental investigations to determine the size and configuration of transition liquid-solid regions in directionally solidifying castings of solid solution alloys, with eutectic, peritectic and monotectic transformations atthe equilibrium and non-equilibrium processes have been carried out. The dependence of the size and configuration of the transition liquid-solid region on the configuration of the phase diagram and the degree of deviation from the equilibrium process isshown.
