Metallographic analysis of the belt - casted strip of a high Mn austenitic steel was carried out. The attention was paid to light microscopy and EBSD characterization of austenitic grains across the thickness of the strip, the effect of high temperatureannealing in air and in vacuum on microstructural evolution, oxidation processes during annealing in air, copper enrichment under the surface of the strip, hardness changes across the thickness of the strip and investigations on secondary phases.
