Protecţia investiţiilor străine directe a devenit un fenomen îndeosebi la cumpăna mileniilor. Statele membre ale Uniunii Europene sunt legate printr-o serie de acorduri bilaterale de sprijin şi protecţie reciprocă a investiţiilor, încheiate fie între două state membre (numite acorduri intracomunitare), fie între un stat membru şi unul care nu este membru UE (numite acorduri extracomunitare).

The protection of foreign direct investment has become a phenomenon, in particular, the turn of the millennium. EU Member States are bound, in particular, a number of bilateral treaties on the promotion and mutual protection of investments, and it concluded either between two member countries or between the member and non-member countries. The issue of foreign direct investment in the EU discusses this book from the standpoint of international law, to which the investment protection thanks to its springs law belongs, so from the perspective of the rights of the EU, and from the perspective of a series of private institutes, which in the system of protection of investment necessarily promote.
