Insurance and Protection of Cultural Monuments against Flood Risk.

The article deals with the insurance in the Czech Republic (CR), with special focus on insurance against flood risk. Subsequently, deals with the delimited subfield of insurance, which are cultural monuments, as an important component of the cultural heritage of the nation. In connection with that was done analysis of historical floods in the CR and their impact on cultural heritage. Damages caused in individual regions and the amounts of compensation for them are summarized here. In detailed view is discussed the most specific selected monuments, which were at most damaged as consequence of floods. Over time, the attitude of insurance companies to insure against flood risks is changing, and not only on cultural heritage field, but generally on the field of all property type. On the bases of it, the article deals with legislation of the cultural heritage insurance and also deals with real possibilities of property insurability and with insuring against flooding. The conclusion summarizes the state of insurance of cultural monuments and their protection against flood risk.
