Working with spatial data currently becomes more popular and necessary in many fields. The processing is increasingly performed by GIS tools. The main advantage of GIS is the ability to show data over the map, to monitor their spatial relations and to interpret various phenomena. For this reason, GIS are widely expanded and become part of the decision-making process and a suitable tool for the organization and development of the managed area. They are one of the ways how to improve performance and efficiency and they help to manage the entrusted assets economically and effectively. This paper focuses on the analyzing of cultural heritages in flood zones. The aim is to assess the risk of flooding of cultural heritage in Ostrava city by usage of GIS tools. The output of research is the identification of objects at risk and the proposal of solutions. There are suggested appropriate procedures and measures to protect cultural heritage against flood damage.
