The aim of this article is to evaluate the state and the development of the availability of institutions specialized in the acute bed care within the basic medical branches under conditions of regions. The selected medical branches are ? internal medicine, surgery, paediatric and gynaecology. The availability of institutions is defined in terms of network of acute bed care providers and their dispensable specialist (staff) and technical capacities. The aim of the article is to define the development andstate of disparities in the availability of institutions of basic branches of acute inpatient care in the individual regions between 2003 and 2012. DEA and FDH static models are utilized for the evaluation of the technical efficiency. On the basis of selected parameters and realized analyses it can be stated that the availability of institutions with the acute bed care in the basic medical branches under conditions of the individual regions did not deteriorate and is sufficient.
