Modern information and communication technologies have impact on whole society. They became parts of our private as well as professional lives. Czech universities have had to reflect this trend for a long time and have offered study courses based on theuse of ICT as learning tools. E-learning and blended learning courses were launched in order to make the university education more available and in order to increase effectiveness of traditional face-to-face learning. These types of courses often use support of Learning Management Systems, e. g. LMS Moodle. This system offers various learning tools, but perhaps fails as communication channel among participants of the course. Is there a space for social networks and their use as communication and learning tools? We would like to discuss main aspects connected with the use of social networks as a part of electronic support of the university courses in our paper and we would like to promote public discussion about it.
