The recent economic crisis has increased the need of the EU Cohesion Policy that contributes to spreading growth and prosperity in the EU, while reducing economic, social and territorial disparities between European regions. The EU Cohesion Policy is closely aligned with the Europe 2020 Strategy. The Europe 2020 Strategy was launched in 2010 as a response to crisis and emphasises the need for innovation, employment and social inclusion and strong response to climate change and energy challenges. The aimof the paper is to evaluate and compare the level of regional development in the selected EU countries (Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia) in the period 2010-2013 based on Europe 2020 Strategy indicators by utilizing the VIKOR method. After almost four years of the Europe 2020 implementation, half of regions reached the better position in the year 2013 than in the year 2010 when the biggest improvement in the regional development was recorded in Poland.
