CHINA AND ITS CHANGING POSITION IN THE WORLD ECONOMY
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The People´s Republic of China (China) started to normalize its relationship with the United States of America (USA) in 1971 when it slowly moved from its economic and political isolation and got involved with the world economy again. Since then its position has changed dramatically. The objective of the paper is to evaluate the changing position of China in the world economy in the period 1980- 2011, including its position with international trade and international monetary system. The empirical analysis was based on exploring of historical data and correlation analysis in order to quantify the relationship between selected variables that had had impact on Chinese position in the world economy. The results of the analysis confirmed that China became an emerging market that plays one of the most important roles in the international economy. The role of China in the IMF is very topical and widely discussed topic due to the growing importance of the renminbi (RMB, yuan) in the global economy.
