The Relationship between the Unemployment Rate and Detected Offenses in the Moravian-Silesian Region
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The article examines the relationship between the unemployment rate and detected offenses. It verifies the hypothesis that the share of unemployed persons affects the number of detected crimes in the Moravian-Silesian Region. The influence of the unemployment rate is verified within six basic types of detected offenses, total detected crime and selected criminal offenses. The hypothesis was verified by a correlation analysis of the data in the Moravian-Silesian Region in the period 2007-2016. A medium correlation coefficient was found in Moral acts and a very high correlation coefficient in Other Criminal Offenses. These two categories were subsequently assigned to a following investigation from a viewpoint of selected offenses. In the categories of moral offenses, a weak correlation coefficient has been demonstrated in three offenses, middle correlation coefficient in one offense, and very high correlation coefficient was also proven in one offense. In the categories of Other Criminal Offenses, there was a low correlation coefficient in one offense, middle correlation coefficient in one offense, and for one offense the correlation coefficient was very high.
