The paper explains the impact of unemployment on the supply of rental dwellings. It investigates all the significant segments of real estate market in the first half of 20th century in Czechoslovakia. In the paper there are investigated three most common segments of real estate market. They are dwellings for rent, family houses for sell, tenement houses for sale and farmhouses for sale. As source of data the daily press Lidove Noviny was used. By analyzing of real estate market data taking from period of 20´s and 30´s it argues, there is significant relationship between expected unemployment and present level of rental dwelling supply. In the paper there are presented the reasons of the most significant relationship. It seems the most significant reason why the supply of rental dwellings is sensitive for future level of unemployment is expected level of unemployment indicated by the landlords in advance. The results of research can be use as indicator for future increase (or decrease) of unemployment.
