Political Regionalization: the V4 Status in the Context of the European Union
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Inequality between states and between states and other players of international relations has a growing trend. Radius of states was reduced significantly as a result of shift from industrial society to information society and this uneven transition causes loss of old certainties and internal instability of states and regions. Moreover, polarity of international relations is expressed not just in relations between states but between the other elements of system: multinational corporations, international organizations and regional groupings. Current system is due to its entropy and multipolarity unstable and not predictable. The result is an explosive combination of instability at various levels of international relations, conflicts and violence on such a scale we've not experienced for long. Unique in this situation should be political role of regional organizations. For Europe is certainly most important EU despite the fact that it has many problems and opponents. Visible position acquires also smaller regional interconnections, such as Visegrad Group, which is becoming important in the CEE area. V4 Countries (Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary) also aims to coordinate foreign affairs, as individually have these states only limited possibility significantly affect international relations. What is their potential for response to growing international threats? Partial answers to questions above may be contribution to this session.
