Environmental chemical engineering hand by hand with design of nanostructured materials and organic technologies present a wide-range research area of which attention is dedicated in the Laboratory of Preparation of Nanostructured Materials at the Institute of Environmental Technology at VSB-Technical University of Ostrava. The talk will introduce the key research activities and co-operations realized in the laboratory within 1. ) the development of nanostructured catalysts for photocatalytic and catalytic applications (e.g. photoreduction, photodecomposition, oxidation) aiming to the reduction of greenhouse gases and chlorinated VOCs, 2.) porous carbons for adsorption of VOCs and xenobiotics prepared by conventional and microwave pyrolysis and 3.) molecular modeling helping to reveal materials properties determining their adsorption performance.
