A comparative study of TiO2 preparation method on their photocatalytic activity for water splitting and CO2 reduction
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
poster na fotochemické letní škole HRSMC Summer School Photochemistry, která se uskutečnila 14.-17.7.2022 v Noordwijku,NizozemskuPhotocatalytic reduction of CO2 is a promising method to achieve CO2 reduction and simultaneously convert it into valuable fuels or other compounds. Titanium dioxide is the most studied photocatalyst. The choice of TiO2 preparation method and the utilization of different precursors can affect the physico-chemical properties of the material, its phase composition and resulting photocatalytic activity. This work is focused on investigating TiO2 photocatalysts and their final photocatalytic activity toward the photoreduction of CO2 and water splitting. Each of the photocatalysts used was prepared by a different method. TiHT was prepared by a hydrothermal method from TiOSO 4 and NH 3 . TiSG was prepared using the sol-gel method from C12H28O4Ti. Photocatalytic tests were performed in the batch photoreactors. The reaction mixture obtained 100 ml of 0.2M NaOH with a photocatalyst (0.1 g). Further, it was saturated by He or CO2 and exposed to a UV light for 8 hours. An 8W Hg lamp was used as the irradiation source. The gaseous samples were taken during measurements and analyzed by a BID-equipped gas chromatograph. Preliminary tests confirmed the higher photocatalytic activity of the prepared TiO2 materials compared to commercial P25. The phase composition of the photocatalyst and the formation of the heterojunction probably play a key role.
