Poster presentation at EUROPACAT2023. The results obtained from preliminary tests showed that the liquid aliphatic hydrocarbons underwent both cracking and aromatization. Furthermore, it was observed that the chain length and type (straight, branched or cyclic) influenced both conversion and aromatization significantly. Moreover, in the case of branched chain hydrocarbons, no aromatization was detected, which can be attributed to their increased molecular size as compared to straight chain hydrocarbons of the same carbon number/molecular weight. For the conversion of such compounds, zeolites with additional mesoporosity might be interesting catalytic materials. A detailed and systematic study on the conversion of abovementioned hydrocarbons to aromatics over HZSM-5 zeolite catalysts will be presented.
