Dignified Old Age for Vulnerable Seniors in Institutional Care in the Czech Republic
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Elderly citizens are entitled to a dignified life under dignified living conditions (UN, 1999). The chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the conditions for dignified old age in the Czech Republic, particularly in the area of institutional care. Given the increasing proportion of people over 80 years of age and the "ageing of elderly" phenomenon, it is essential to monitor how human rights are respected in those who are no longer self-supporting, i.e. frail and/or incompetent. The first type of research is a qualitative study focused on identification and perception of what is labelled as "dignified care". Namely, to find out the lived experience of employees and clients of residential houses for senior citizens with features indicating dignified care. The research was organized and carried out using the qualitative phenomenological method that is suitable for understanding substantial life experiences.
