Validation of the DTP-3 system designed for noninvasive spinal shape examination by means of x-ray examination
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Repeated measurement of the spine is absolutely necessary in children and adolescents affected by spinal deformities especially during his/her growing-up periods. To avoid a risk associated with a damage of the tissues by x-ray, the methods for noninvasive measurements of a spine shape have been developed. One of them is the DTP-3 position system that enables three-dimensional measurement of anatomical landmarks (processus spinosus) and calculation of curvature angles in both the frontal and sagittal planes. We were interested whether DTP-3 is precise enough for determination of the true spinal shape. To determine the precision of the DTP-3 system we constructed a model of the spine. The model was then investigated by both noninvasive and x-ray methodsrepeatedly. The distortion of x-ray image caused by the central projection mechanism was considered and involved. In addition, a group of patients with scoliosis up to 40° was evaluated by both the DTP-3 system and x-ray. Differences in
