A number of different qualitative methodologies were presented at the workshop. An overview of some common qualitative methodologies was given - including their broad focus, the methods they use and the differences between them. Participants had the opportunity to consider how a particular methodology fits into a particular way of conceptualising or looking at a research topic. During the workshop, they had the opportunity to apply their knowledge through interactive exercises and consider which methodology might be appropriate for a particular topic or focus, and how research objectives or questions might differ depending on the methodology.
