History Of The Village Raková u Konice

This professional book focuses on description and analysis of the development of Raková u Konice, a small village in the Prostějov district, from German origin up to the present. Raková was the typical village of a region called Konicko. The book contributes to a creation of the historical picture of the region Konicko too, because history of the village is evaluated in the context of the closer region. Here is few archeological localities because of the late colonization of the region (in the 13th century). The population boom initiated at the end of the 18th century was replaced by progressive depopulation of the region in the 20th century. Soil of the predominantly agricultural region was not so fertile for ensuring of adequate standard of life for all people. That was reason, why many villagers left the region behind and went to cities seeking the better life. Less inhabitants bring closing down of schools and unifying of villages. The communists made the villages to do it. Neverthelles after the Velvet revolution most of villages became indenpendent. The problems regarding depopulation are still current.
