Nowadays Czech society is often considered to be atheist, anti religious and, in the attitudes to the solidarity and social role of state, very little sympathetic. In the large research more than 3800 respondents were asked to share their attitudes to the role of state in the question of social support and solidarity, to the general ethical beliefs about the validity of the common values, faith in God and the religious beliefs. Their answers were correlated with other demographical and personal indicators such as sex, age, education, population of residence, personal situation, professional orientation and economical situation of their families. The correlations were calculated using χ2 statistics and also the standard residuals for individual correlated items were detected. Discovered general correlations and especially their inner structures were researched and widely discussed. The results of this research and discussions we present in this paper and we believe that they shall be helpful for deeper understanding of the society in which we live.
