Entre las coleccioniones checas del ex-libris destaca la del ing. Milan Humplík, universal de intereses y conocedor de escuelas locales como la catalana, que se fue creando en torno al año 1900, época del modernismo catalán, con Antoni Gaudí a la cabeza. Aparecen entonces en Cataluña maestros de ex libris como Alexandre de Riquer (1856-1920), Josep Triadó (1870-1929), y Joaquim Renart i García (1879-1961). Para nuestra sorpresa, Riquer muestra ciertas relaciones con Chequia: ha trabajado para el industrial de Liberec, el Dr. Rudolf Neumann, y en un momento dado se ha inspirado en la obra del checo Alfons Mucha, quien colaboró, entre 1899 y 1900, con el fabricante de chocolates barcelonés Amatller. El segundo, Triadó y el tercero Renart, representan la plenitud del estilo modernista, la impecable línea ondulante y el sentido decorativo del conjunto y del detalle. El modernismo se prolonga con Ismael Smith Marí, quien tiende ya a la línea decorativa de Art-Deco, con la que culmina aquella gran época ex librista. Obra de todos estos maestros fueron expuestos en el Instituto Cervantes de Praga, siendo el autor del catálogo y de este artículo comisario de la misma exposición.

In autumn 2016 was celebrated in the Institut Cervantes at Prague an exhibition of the Exlibris (bookplates) in Barcelona at the start of the 20th Century. Its importance was not only in the presentation of ex-libris (bookplates) created in Barcelona, but in the fact that all the pieces are part of a private collection, that of the ing. Milan Humplík, collector of bookplates in Bohemia. In the époque when in Barcelona was active the genial architect and artist Antoni Gaudí, we observe the existence of some masters of bookplates as Alexandre de Riquer (1856–1920), Josep Triadó (1870–1929), and Joaquim Renart i Garcia (1879–1961), with which the Catalonian bookplate art culminated. Riquer worked too for one important industrial Dr. Rudolf Neumann in Liberec (and was inspired in the work of the Czech artist that influenced not only Paris: Alfons Mucha. Maybe, there were direct contacts, when the Mucha´s patron Sarah Bernhard acted in Barcelona in 1895, and Mucha collaborated with the manufacture of chocolate Amatller (1899-1900).
